The Sphinx
The dress for the sphinx is made from crepe back satin. The corset is fully boned and the entire look is made with couture sewing techniques. After that the cage is made from pine, copper elbows, boning, and ostrich feathers. Using a process called bent lamination the wooden base pieces were molded and after constructed the boning was woven through to create the harness to attach to the body. The Sphinx is meant to explore the struggles of Queen Elizabeth II, torn between duty and family during the early years of her reign.
